There are 10 trimesters (and we thought pregnancy was long!). So 2nd year would likely be 4th-6th Tris. I might know him, I started last fall. What's his first name and what's he look like?
Sidebar: how are you handling all the studying and schoolwork? I'm in my last year of law school and have absolutely no concentration ability and a serious case of pregnancy brain... this semester's grades are going to be a blast!
OMG - I have NO focus at all! This summer, I had my best grades so far. This semester? Yeah... not so much. I'm trying to stay on top of everything, but I am just so damn distracted and my short-term memory is shot. It doesn't help that we bought a house at the end of October and we've been moving as well. Between baby and house and school and just the regular stress of life, I feel like my head is going to explode.
We're coming up on Finals right after Thanksgiving, so I really need to pull myself together.
Oh geez, I do not envy you the move. We don't have to move until the end of May. We start finals 12/6 but I have to take one tomorrow (which I haven't studied for), and have two papers to write before then...
Are you planning on still going FT once the baby comes?
I'm taking summer off and returning FT in Fall - just in time to take my first board exams (I opted not to take them this spring). I don't want to put off graduation any more than I already have/will. I'd like to get going in practice and start making some money sooner rather than later!
At least being pg and having a kid is a good learning experience for the type of practice I want to run! I'd like to focus on pre-/post-natal women's care and include doula services, childbirth classes, nutrition, possibly pediatrics, lactation, etc. Ideally, I'd like to get into practice with a midwife or an OB with a natural bent.
I'm trying to shine a positive light on this little surprise
That's awesome! Ha, I was actually considering ditching law as a career and going to nursing school with the goal of becoming a nurse midwife... maybe someday we can practice together!
Yours was a surprise too? It was pretty ironic because DH and I had just decided we would wait until April to TTC, then bam! BFP! But, we're both happy about it and it really won't be that bad (at least, I keep telling myself that!)
Yeah - we really hadn't even thought about kids beyond the infamous "someday"... got a little carried away one night and, well, the rest is history. I had been hoping to be out of school or at least a little closer to being done, but my husband is so level-headed (God love him)... he just said, "We've always taken life as it comes and this isn't any different." Things will be a little tricky with childcare once I'm back in school, but we'll deal. At least we don't have to worry about "if/when" and "someday" anymore.
Oh, and the midwife thing is awesome for you! Some people just don't stay in the first career they choose - I used to be an engineer (in a past life, it seems). If it hadn't been chiro school, I was looking into becoming and RN or a nurse practitioner and aiming towards midwifery.
Re: smismar
This is the only picture I have - it's from last fall at our white coat ceremony.... sorry it's small.
The guy I'm thinking of is in the center of the top row with a light blue or grey shirt and dark tie - next to the really tall guy.
(I'm hiding in there, too, somewhere.)

With that, I'm off to bed. Good night!
