Question regarding registry and car seats

I think we're going to register for the infant car seat and the next one up (convertible) since that's another big ticket item. I believe we're going with the Graco snugride, but what do you guys think for the convertible seat? Also, stollers....no idea what to get!!!!

Re: Question regarding registry and car seats

  • I am also getting the Snugride.

Register for the "Baby Trend" snap n go stroller, it's AMAZING.  Graco makes one too, but the Baby Trend one is way better, IMO.  It has bigger cupholders and is easier to fold.

We registered for a Britax convertible carseat cause they are "the best" from what I've heard.

Strollers... go and try them out in the store.  My advice, don't buy one until baby is big enough to actually TRY it with them in it.  The snap n go is plenty for the first 6-ish months, that's all you need.

  • We haven't registered yet (big u/s is in 3 weeks) but I think we'll register for an infant car seat and get the Britax Marathon seat when the baby is big enough to need it.  We'll probably but the Britax on our registry, but I am doubtful we'd get it, and it's something we could buy later.

Stroller - We both love the UppaBaby Vista, so that's what we're going with.  Might get the Snap-N-Go for the 1st little bit (w/ infant car seat) as well.

  • We registered for the Britax Diplomat for our convertible car seat.  As for the stroller, we registered for the SnugRider frame to go with the SnugRide that we already have.  I figure we'll deal with buying another stroller when she outgrows the infant car seat.

  • We got the Chicco Cortina system, and purchased the Britax Marathon, which we replaced with the Boulevard after I got into an accident (our insurance was covering it). We loved the KeyFit and the Britax.
  • Don't be fooled by the Britax hype. The Evenflo Triumphs are rated equal if not higher. With Britax, you're paying for the name and the European testing report. Do your research; don't fall into the "it's the most expensive, so it must be the best" trap.

  • We're going with the Chicco Key Fit infant seat and the Britax Marathon.  The Britax is not the most expensive car seat out there-Recaro is far more $$.  A lot of recs from friends are what led us to the Britax.

  • Car seats expire, I would not get a convert seat until they are ready for one. Different brands have different shelf lives. My Britax Marathons have a 5 year life before they expire.

Snugride, great choice! I use my Phil & Ted with it and my GoGoBabyz Urban Advantage (BEST STROLLER EVER!)

I looked at the Evenflo and was not impressed with how it functioned, by far I never believe $=quality but in this case I feel it does, we have 4 Marathons.

I read a lot of scary reviews about the Evenflo Triumph and how the adjustment knob for the straps doesn't work right.  Have you used this seat?

  • I have 2 Evenflo Triumph Advanced and love them. The knob to loosen and tighten the straps is great. I've never had a problem and it makes getting DS out of the seat SOOOOOO much easier than having to squeeze his little arms. It has knobs on both sides, so it doesn't matter which side you use, and the release button is easy to use with one finger. The straps do twist occasionally when he's out of it, but it takes 2 seconds to fix (I imagine many seats do this, too). I just love the ease of the straps, the extra cushions it provides, and the depth. The Marathons look too shallow for my liking. Plus the Evenflo triumph Advance goes up over 50 lbs., like Britax. According to all tests, except those done on the Autobon, the Triumph rates equal and is half the cost of Britax. I did order the Britax in the Target fiasco, but that's b/c I couldn't pass up the deal:)
