Crying while eating??

My DD is not a great eater... she loves to sleep, and eats only reluctantly unless she is really hungry.  For now we are feeding her on demand instead of trying to keep them on the same schedule so that she is more interested in food.

Sometimes, after about 3/4 of her bottle, she continues acting hungry but cries when the bottle is actually in her mouth.  She'll even suck a little and cry.  Has anyone else experienced this?  It's pretty terrible-- makes me worry that something about eating is hurting her.  (They had their 2 month check up today and the doctor said everything seems totally fine.  DD has more than doubled her birthweight in 2 months.)

Anyone have any ideas?  TIA.

Re: Crying while eating??

  • Yeap! same here. Both cried while trying to eat and it was a battle. We went to the doc and we determined that the Noesure was not doing its job anymore and they needed a different formula. We changed to Simlac New Advance and they love it. They are up to 5oz each feeding. It was around 2 1/2 month adjusted when we had this problem.
  • It was a the same age (about 2-21/2 months) for Rilee as well.  She would practically scream like she was in pain while the bottle was in her mouth.  Reid never had any issue; she has always been my chunky monkeyBig Smile.  We ended up moving them to level 2 nipples and that stopped the crying.  She still sucks so hard that sometimes she will cough because she has too much formula in her mouth.  But she downs 6oz every feeding like it's nothing and seems much happier.
