Okay, quick question - we got a notice from the collections agency saying we had 30 days to pay or make a payment plan with them before any legal action was taken. So I set that up and no legal action was taken. Does that mean it's still on our credit report?
Re: MrsMcJeep
I would think it is. Each collection agency has different procedures. But I would assume that it is on there. They get major bucks for getting a collection paid...they take a percentage of it, so they would put it on there in case, you were to buy a house or refinance a mortgage that would have to be paid first.
They aren't going to take it off until you pay it and even then it will say paid collection...it stays on for 7 years.
So I would get a copy of your credit report from all 3 bureaus and dispute it if its on all 3 or which ever ones it is on.
