If you are hosting Thanksgiving

How do you manage to get everything ready at the same time?  I feel like everything is cold b/c I do not have enough appliances and everything needs to be cooked at the end and only so much fits in the oven.  I think I will use my crockpot for the sweet potatoes this year, we bought a few electric appliances too but I am not sure how I will be using them yet.  How do you do it?

  • I have a double oven, so that makes it a ton easier. When I lived in my condo with only one oven, I just planned really carefully and didn't make more than I could fit in my oven.

  • Lids and aluminum foil really do work wonders.  It also helps to not eat too late.  Also while putting the finishing touches on the turkey (or whatever the last dish to bake is) I generally stick the finished dishes in the oven for a few minutes to warm up a bit....nothing is ever ice cold so it doesn't take long.

  • Yeah, I left out  our big new oven purchase a few weeks ago!!!  Looking forward to using the double oven too.

  • We'll probably use the warming tray.  It's super helpful.
  • I use a plug in electric roaster to cook the turkey so it keeps my oven free.  I put the mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, extra stuffing in corning wares and pop them in the oven to stay warm while I cut the turkey.  I use the microwave to steam my veggies.  It does get a bit crazy, but it works OK but I also have DH to help - he loves cooking,
