AW for DS!
After 16+ months of regular cardiologist appointments, numerous echos, EKG's and the like, and open heart surgery 5 months ago....DS doesn't have to see the cardiologist again for a year!
We went to the cardiologist for the 3rd or 4th time since surgery, and he said DS looks great, is growing well, etc. and we can wait a year for another checkup. DH and I are so relieved to be able to put all of this behind us for the most part. There is still a tiny, pinhole size hole the doctor detects, but it's nothing to worry about now, or in the future. Basically one little spot that was stitched shut on DS' heart came unstitched resulting in the residual hole. This is very common according to the doctor.
The doctor said DS has no limitations and is to be considered a "normal," healthy, boy.
