Yeast infection question

So I went to the Dr today and I have a yeast infection.  They also found some white blood cells and a speck of blood in my urine - so I am waiting to see if I also have a bladder infection or a UTI.  FUN.

Anyway - my OB told me to use monostat but to only apply it externally.  Is this the normal way to do it while pregnant.  I don't see how it will take care of the infection inside... how will that go away? 

Anyone else told to do it this way?  Did it clear up?

Guess I just got trust them.

Hmm.... My doctor just told me to go buy the over the counter 7 day stuff and see if it worked. She said nothing about just using it externally. I don't see how that would help clear it up, but I'm sure she said that for a reason. Now I'm worried that I've been doing it wrong. I'm eager to hear other people's experiences!

I was just diagnosed today w a yeast infection and I had/have a UTI, on antibiotics for that.  anyways, my obgyn told me to use monistat 3, not monistat 1.  I also cleared it with my RE who said it was fine to do the inserts.    hope you feel better soon!!!

I got a yeast infection early on in pgcy and wasn't allowed to use anything internally either. Dr told me I could rub the cream on outside for itching, but I just had to wait it out for the rest. It sucked. It did clear up eventually, it just took a lot longer than if it had been treated.?
