Soooo TIRED!!!

I am at my breaking point with my sweet little girl.  She had FINALLY settled in to sleeping about 10-12 hrs straight before our little trip OOT last weekend.  Once we got there, it was up at least 3 times a night.  I though maybe it was just being in a strange environment and that it would get better when we got home.

WRONG.  Still up at least 2x/night.  I've been reading the "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Children" or whatever it called, and it talks about not reinforcing the night waking habit.  But, I swear she's hungry.  If I feed her, she usually goes back to sleep.  The book says that's o.k., and that you just don't want to get in the habit of going to them just b/c they want to play....

I think I've averaged about 5 hours of sleep per night for the last week.  And fragmented, light, crappy sleep at that.  I am so exhausted!  Last night, I let her cry (hard) for about 15 minutes before I broke down and fed her (she had only been asleep for about 3 hours and should not have been hungry.....).  She seemed to pass out, but once I put her in her crib, she was back up and fussing for another 45 minutes - she finally fell back asleep.  Then she was up again around 4.  It's making me crazy....  I guess I just hope it's a phase - I don't know what else to do....  Just wanted to vent....

Re: Soooo TIRED!!!

  • I know how you feel, Mia is a good sleeper, but Ava was not.  She didn't sleep through the night until she was 9 months old!  It starts to get old after a while.

When she wakes up are you nursing her or bottle feeding her?

  • I'm sorry Lisa! I hope this is just a phase she is going through!!! Hope you get some good rest tonight!!
  • Still nursing.  Which always makes me wonder if she's getting enough at bedtime - and maybe not - which is maybe why she's waking up??  I don't know.  It just kind of came out of nowhere though, so I don't think that's it....
  • grasping at straws here. but maybe since you interupted her sleep pattern, she hasn't been able to get right back to it.  and if you're nursing, she might be seeking comfort instead of nutrition.  Give her a little while and keep reinforcing the night time is for sleep :) and I bet your sweet baby will be back to her good sleeping self soon!
  • Aww Lisa I'm sorry.  Hopefully it's just a short lived face and you'll be able to get some decent sleep soon.
  • Lisa, I completely understand how you feel!  This whole past week Jude has been waking up every 2-3 hours (at the same time each night).  Well at first it was just a growth spurt, but last night I found out it was a habit he developed.  I gave him formula just to see when he would wake up (since it would stay with him longer.)  Well he kept the usual pattern of every 2-3 hours.  So now I have to try and get him back to sleeping his usually 5-6 hours that he was doing.

I hope Jenna gets back to sleeping good again!
