I made yogurt...and it worked!

I'm so excited - I thought for sure there was no way it would actually work but it did!  Hooray!!  DH thought I was crazy for sure.  It tastes really good, too.  Its a little runnier than Stoneyfield so pretty runny but I'm straining it using a cheesecloth to see if that helps any.  Anywhoo - just had to share :)

  • I used the method from A Year of Crockpotting blog https://crockpot365.blogspot.com/2008/10/you-can-make-yogurt-in-your-crockpot.html So fun!  I think I finally feel like a homemaker - lol!!
  • Congrats! I love homemade yogurt. I actually got a 'yogurt maker' as a gift a few years back, but it does the exact same thing your crockpot does (and it doesn't make anything else :)

If you want your yogurt a bit thicker, you can do a few different things:

    - use a higher fat milk (e.g. whole milk yogurt will be thicker than skim)

    - whisk some dry milk (even nonfat) into the milk once it is warmed up but before you add the starter/culture.

    - let it culture a bit longer before you chill it

     HTH!
