Will you rate the Mei Tai that you sewed on how hard it was to do? Beginner? Intermediate? Advanced?

I've been wanting to sew one for awhile now and have another tutorial bookmarked (although I like the one you used better).

I'm a beginner sewer, but have done well on the things that I have done in the past (blankets, a shirt, curtains, cloth wipes). I think it would be fun to try, but don't want to go and buy a bunch of nice fabric just to find that it's a little too hard for me. Sometimes it's just cheaper to buy one. =)

Thanks!

  • I didn't find it hard, every line is strait.  It does take patience.  It took me 6 hours to make mine.  I also reread the directions several times and made sure I understood everything before I started.

I would say, because of the time consuming part, that it's intermediate.

I made my patterns on used tissue paper instead of hunting other large paper.

  • Okay, thanks. Maybe I'll give it a try in a few weeks when DH will be home with me for 2 weeks (perks of being a teacher). Then he can help out with DS and I will have time to focus on it.

Thanks. Yours is beautiful, by the way!

  • Thanks!

I just made a post with a pic of us modeling it today.  Saxton, who is a fatty, felt almost weightless!
