Non-MOM in need of stroller help

I don't have twins, but I'm hoping that you ladies will be a little more knowledgable about strollers than I am!!   I have a 14 mo. old and I'm expecting our 2nd baby next month.  DH and I are completely stuck when it comes to double strollers.  The DuoGlider seems SO long and huge to try to steer, but we like that we'd be able to just snap a carseat in it and go.  But today we looked at the Peg Perego side-by-side 60/40 split, and we liked it.  Does anybody have good experiences with side-by-side?  It's 30" wide, and I'm worried that it won't fit through doorways if we go somewhere.  Our carseat that we already own fits into the stroller, so we wouldn't need to buy a new one.  I'm just wondering how cumbersome and bulky a side-by-side is, and whether a DuoGlider is worse or better as far as steering and getting around.

So if you could tell me your experiences, I'd be grateful!!  Thanks!!

  • A standard door is narrower than 3 inches I believe. There is no perfect stroller - I think most MOMs have more than one. The Duolgider is fine and if you are only getting one, I would go for it.
  • That's "30 inches".

  • It really depends..We have two. Graco Quatro Duo double stroller (that one is front and back) DH likes this stroller over the side by side. And we have a Chicco side by side. I like this one.

  • I have a City Mini Double Side by Side and I love it.  I haven't had any problems going in and out of doors.  I like that the kids are SBS and there will be no fighting for who's in front.
  • I have two 14 month olds, and two strollers: a duoglider, and a combi twin sport which is side by side. By leaps and bounds I prefer the duoglider.  The duoglider is the SUV of strollers, big with terrible gas mileage, but lots of space, lots of cupholders, and it fits everything in there. Side by sides are nice for walks, but for the mall or any store, the duoglider is much much better.
