Today I went for my saline sonohysterogram and RE found 1 large polyp and a few smaller ones. RE suggests I have them removed so it does not cause problems with implantation or other problems w/ TTC. I have tentatively scheduled for 12/5/08 procedure. RE said, depending on my recovery from procedure, I may be able to start BCP's in Jan for IVF in Feb.
I have not had time to do any research, but I needed to unload and thought I would ask what experiences you all have had - if any.
Thanks for listening. Have a great weekend everyone!
Re: Anyone have polyps removed?
I had it done this past summer. I was really nervous but it was fine. They do put you out for the procedure and that was my main concern. I had more side effects from the anesthesia (sp) then the actual procedure.
Good luck!
My RE also recommended that I have mine removed. RE said they were small & don't look like they are a problem but it couldn't hurt. I was having some long periods-spotting for 4 days, period for 2 or 3, then spotting another 4 days before I had this done. After the procedure it was amazing, my periods went from start to finish in 4 or 5 days.
I had it done by my OB/GYN because they were able to put it through insurance as long as the code wasn't for fertility reasons. They also did a D&C, if I remember correctly. The procedure for me was horrible. Susan above was lucky. But I think it's because of how I was dilated. My OB did a laminaria dilation. The night before the procedure, about 8pm he inserted what I recall as being special seaweed to cause me to dilate. By 11pm I started getting such awful cramping and back pain. My procedure wasn't until noon the next day. I swear it must have been just like labor pain. It would come like contractions (this is my 1st time pregnant so this is what I imagine labor is like). I was up all night, so was my husband rubbing my back & just feeling helpless. One they took me in the OR, I begged them to just knock me out. The rest was easy.
If they do the standard dilation, once you are in the hospital then it will hopefully not be so bad. I hope no one thinks I am evil for posting this, it's not like I am trying to scare you or be negative, I wish I had known what to expect to feel abck then. But it was worth it as it made my period regular.
Wow, Fiazo, that sounds awful! ?I also had multiple polyps removed in September, but my hysteroscopy was no big deal at all! ?I was in and out of the hospital in 3 hours and had very little pain or bleeding afterwards. ?My AFs are much better now as well.
?I am so jealous that your doctor is willing to start treatment so soon after the surgery. ?Mine made us wait 90 days. ?Ugh! January can not get here soon enough!?
Fiazo,
Thanks for the feedback and I'm sorry you had to go through that - it sounds horrible. I don't think you mwere trying to be negative or scare me. I'm like you, I'd rather be prepared. I can now ask my RE about the procedure and be sure. He did state it would be a hysterscopy and he compared it to a D&C, but stated the hysterscopy is more precise.
Indiana....thanks for your reply. I really hope my RE wasn't blowing smoke up my a** when he said we could do this the next month depending on my healing. I am starting to think he did not want to tell me that at the same time he told me I had polyps that needed to be removed. I don't think I will get my hopes up. I just need to get it in my head that I won't start for 90 days and then if I start earlier, it would be a bonus. I really hope it's not 90 days - I'll go insane before then.
Take care everyone!
