Babies on the Brain

I'm too pessimistic about TTC.

I feel like there's no hope for us this month...simply because it's our first month.  I just know SO many people in my life have had fertility issues...it sucks coming into this with such a bad attitude, even though I know everyone is different!

Re: I'm too pessimistic about TTC.

  • You could get lucky. I was on BCPs for 11 years prior to TTC. I stopped pills and we avoided for one month (I was finishing my M.Ed. and didn't want a due date earlier than December) and my 2nd cycle off of BCP, 1st cycle trying, I got pregnant. I know that we are extremely blessed that it happened easily for us. It's certainly possible.

  • I'd rather be that way because becoming an emotional wreck when it doesn't happen right away would be far worse to me.

  • Try not to be pessimistic. I mean it's good to be realistic about your chances (about 20%), but don't be too down. There are many more women without fertility problems than women with fertility problems.

  • I'm sorry about your worries - but I hope that it happens soon for you!

  • That's true.  I guess I'm just trying to stay grounded and keep cushioned for any fall.  I don't even want to get my hopes up because I just don't believe it will happen quickly.  *sigh*

And I hate how you overanalyze every.single.twitch. in your body as a "symptom".  lol.

  • Yeah, it's hard not to overanalyze things.

Oh and for the 'everyone's different' so true! I thought I'd have problems getting pg, since my mom struggled with infertility, but I have no problem getting pg.

I'm in the same boat! AF just arrived today and I am pretty down in the dumps... I know it was only our first cycle but I got my hopes up with all the 'symptoms' I was having... and in the back my mind I still think it could be spotting lol...

  • whitney - I'm sure I'll be the same way at the end of this cycle if I don't get a BFP.

Roshy - I try SO hard to remember that everyone is different!  Hopefully I'll be fertile myrtle and DH will have superman sperm.  :)  That would be fabulous!

I thought the same thing. My mom suffered from IF and has terrible endo. (had a hysterectomy at a young age) so I was told by my OBGYN that if I wanted a chance to get pregnant I should start BCPs at a very young age to help prevent endo and TTC basically as soon as I got married and wanted to. I was amazed that it happened so quickly.
