We just bought two seven foot tall bookcases for our living room. Sam doesn't spend too much time in there, but given the size, I think they still need to be secured to the wall just in case.
The problem is, for the straps that we have, there's not enough of a lip on the back of the shelf to screw in the brackets. We found a different type on line that claim to have an adhesive that secures to the furniture. My DH is skeptical of how well that would hold.
Any thoughts or ideas for me?
Re: bolting furniture to the wall
I agree, I wouldn't be comfortable either.
MH used some wall hooks with anchors in the wall, then plastic ties that have a weight capacity of 100lbs or something ridiculous to hook the bookcases to the wall.
Sorry, but I don't know how to better explain it because I'm not sure of the actual names for the stuff he used.
But I would go to Lowe's and see what they have.
Me with my littlest.
We bolt everything. Because, DS can drag a chair anywhere, and climb anything these days.
DH made some anchors into studs in the walls and used a wire that's approved to over 100+ lbs to keep them up.
We did that with pantry shelves in our basement, too.
