DS got a flu shot last year and this year. DH and I do every year as well. I honestly don't see any reason why not to. Sure, you can still get the flu, but why not protect yourself against the main strains out there this year? Plus, I know how miserable DS is with a cold - I cannot fathom that poor thing going through the flu.
FYI - DS didn't have any reactions to the flu shots, but has had reactions to the DTP vaccines.

I was not planning on bringing my dd in just for the flu shot. However, she had broncidus (sp?) last week and we were at the doctors office anyways so we did it then.
She has gotten it every other year because she gets sick often.
Kate gets it and I get it when I am PG (thimerosal free for both of us). We are out and about at so many classes, playgroups, etc that we are exposed to illness constantly. I don't want either one of us going down, espeically not this winter when I'll be massively PG. DH does not get it, but he's not that critical to the running of this household on a daily basis
Yes, I got DD one this year. At my doctor's office, not sure if it is the same elsewhere, she got 1/2 dose now and I go back in 30 days and get her the other half dose. I believe they said it was b/c it was the first time she's ever had it (for some reason I skipped it last year) and the fact that she is under the age of 3 (or 4?).
DH and I also both got it this year since they had a flu shot clinic at his work. My OB had also strongly recommended I get one since I am pg.
Yes. My DD is very skinny, as in 1% BMI skinny. When she is sick, she doesn't eat, when she doesn't eat, she ends up Failure to Thrive, and I have to jump through all kinds of hoops. Thank goodness I am friends with our pediatrician so she knows our home is stable and loving, or I would probably have to deal with DFACs. I also got it on my OB's rec.
My older one got her 1st dose and we go back next week for the 2nd.
I'm just so torn about the little one. They want to do her next week, too. She'll be 6mo and 3 days. It just seems so young! That and they have her set up for the 2nd dose the same day as she's supposed to get another vax.....I really don't like that.
I'm torn. I got it. DH got it. My parents got it. But, the woman who watches them doesn't and neither does her DH. There are no other kids there, but adults spread it, too.
We all got it last year for the first time. DD was 6 mos. No one got sick from it. Our arms were a little sore. We all got it again this year. DD was in daycare last year and sick a lot, not the flu. It was awful. Anything I can do to keep my kids from getting sick I'm going to do.
Re: flu shot - yes? no?
Yes
I'd rather a toddler who is a little ill (slight fever or sore arm) from a flu shot rather than one in the hospital.

He got it last year at 11 months and this year at 22.
I have had mine, and so has DH.
Influenza can kill people. The real, respiratory flu, not the various stomach viruses that people call the flu.

DD - December 2008
