Just curious... what months do you consider to the seasons to be? I saw in someone's sig today that they were due in May and having a Summer baby. And it made me think... is May really summer?
In my head summer is June, July & August. Fall is September, October & November. Winter is December, January & February. And Spring is March, April & May. (Even though it still usually hot as all hell in September and freezing in March. But that's just how my brain categorizes them).
I'm interested to hear what you guys think...
Re: Is May considered summer?
From Wikipedia:
From a popular culture point of view, in the United States summer season, is often considered to begin at the Memorial Day weekend (the last Monday in May) and end at the Labor Day weekend (the first Monday in September). Likewise, another set of pop-culural reference points for summer is the time when elementary and secondary schools close down for the "summer vacation". This period usually lasts from around June 7-30 until around August 25-September 10, depending on where the school is located.
I guess I consider May summer because it's already 97 degrees outside.
April is end of spring. May-September is summer. To me, summer is hot weather.
May is Spring. I think officially Summer doesn't start until late June, unless I made that up, which is entirely possible.
Not in Minnesota. LOL We probably still have snow then
Yeah, I always think of May as a spring month.
I think it depends on where you live. In Georgia, we get temps up to the 90s in May. It definitely feels like summer by May.
So using that logic, here in Miami where I live it's pretty much always summer. We have a few weeks of spring and fall and it's never winter.
I should say that, technically, it is spring, but I understand why someone might say a May baby is a summer baby. Kids and teachers are already out for summer vacation by May 3rd here.
True, it definitely feels like summer weather in May here in SC, but technically it would still be spring.
That's awesome! I wish I lived there. It's only been cold here for a few weeks and I'm already sick of it.
So does that mean you don't really consider anything to be winter if it never really gets cold?
me thinks May 24th is PC's birthday. then again, my Spidey Sense has been off today.
It gets cold, it'll get down in the 30's or sometimes the 20's. But that is always late November through early Jan. And I have only seen snow 4x in my life. Can't wait until I move to northen Indiana!
I agree. I go by what the calendar says the season is.
I agree- the end of May may be summer, but in the beginning when I am due, I consider it to be spring. The kids are still in school, and here in MN it can snow into April, so if all of May is summer then there is no spring at all.
I think it is also the same thing right now. Some places it is definetly fall, but I have a friend in Alaska and today they have a -24 wind chill.
Uh you do realize that seasons are not weather dependent right?
