If you've got an itty-bit...

I recently read about Duocal and Benecalorie - high calorie powders and liquids that can increase weight gain.  Has anyone talked to their peds or know someone who's on them?  DS is 3%tile in weight at 9 months old despite me adding olive oil, butter and or cheese to everything he eats.  I hate that he's so scrawny going into RSV season (he's 10%tile height).  I'll cross-post on special needs but would love to get more info before I call my pediatrician.

  • Is your doc concerned with his size? I think it's okay to be small if he's following the curve. I might ask about it though, we're having weight gain issues and she's fallen off the curve and we're doing everything we can to get to her on, we'll find out next week if it's working!

  • DS's GI put him on duocal and in the beginning his weight jumped 8 ounces in 10 days after not moving for almost a month, but now his weight has stalled again.

  • My smaller twin is falling lower and lower below the growth curve. So far nobody has suggested either of those supplements for him. I started adding olive oil to every bottle with the hopes of it increasing his weight gain, because the GI doc, the nutritionist and his pediatrician keep telling me to increase the amount of formula he eats - but he won't eat more! So I've kinda taken matters into my own hands.

    It's frustrating :(
