Back pain.

Lately I've been have pretty bad back pain through out the day. Tylenol does nothing and I just started using a maternity belt that has been helping a little. Is anyone else having or has had lower back pain and if so what did you do about it?

Re: Back pain.

  • I have back pain to the point of tears. (part of those tears may be hormones)

I find that an electrical heating pad works wonders.

  • I started taking baths.  I've also gotten massages.
  • I have been having back pain as well.  I zap my bean buddy and wrap it around my lower back.  My DH has been kind enough to knead my lower back while I sit in a chair.  I try to put my feet up when I get home.  Doc has me limited to carrying nothing weighing more than 2 gallons of milk.  DD and DH move the laundry baskets around for me.  Smile
  • Ditto the heating pad and massages.  I also do exercises to strengthen my other core muscles to take some of the pressure off my back and get regular chiropractic adjustments.  (I had back issues well before being pg - now I can't just cover up the pain with ibuprofen - it has actually been good for me to get rid of that crutch.)
  • I used Icy Hot patches for my back pain.  It's the only thing that helped and the Doc told me they were fine to use.

  • Go visit a chiropractor.

Here's a link for you, generally the docs listed on this site tend to see a larger % of pregnant women since they specialize in kids as well.  If you already know one that your comfortable with, all can adjust pregnant women.

  • I have put a pillow behind my back when i sit in my horrible chair at work, but other than that i haven't found anything to help it.  Except my cars seat it has lumbar support and i have it pumped up
  • I switched to lower-heeled shoes, and started sleeping on my side with a pillow between my knees at night. It has made a world of difference. I still have a somewhat sore back, but much less than before!
