This year is the first year that I will not be working the day after Thanksgiving. My former job was working for a mall management company, and it was a REQUIRED" day to work, even though it was considered a paid holiday.

I would but I'm taking a vacation day. I'm in the financial services industry and it's not considered a holiday, just a regular work day.

I could take off if I pushed the issue, but my management group wants someone here that day. I work in healthcare. I manage a specialty clinic with 13 physicians. I have 2 docs in that day so we'll be slow, the rest took off. The trade off is I'll work this one and be off the day after Christmas.

I don't plan on coming in until 9 and only staying until noon or one. It will be so slow. I plan on being on the web all day.

It's not considered a holiday for us.

When I worked for an investment co, it was a regular work day (when the market was open, we were open) and if I didn't ask for a vacation day soon enough, I had to work it. But it was always a super easy day - would get there at the normal time and always leave early. My family has always been within a couple hours drive so I never missed the big day.

My new company (not in the financial industry anymore) gives that day as a holiday and I love it.

it's not considered a holiday where I work, but I'm taking off since I'm traveling to my inlaws for the holiday.

No, it doesn't affect my Thanksgiving plans, since I don't have to be in til afternoon.

I have to take a vacation day if so. I work in Healthcare and the field has to work so corporate does too.

Normally I would have to work, except it is my regular day off since I only work 4 days a week and I get every Friday off. I work for the Federal Government and I guess we already get too many holidays off so they won't give us one more.

We rotate holidays. I had Thanksgiving last year. This year I get Christmas off.

I have to work on Thanksgiving and the day after My shift both days is 3-11:30 pm. I am a nurse.

We are going to have Thanksgiving "dinner" at my parens around noon. I am hoping to get called off if our census is low but not counting on it.

I have to use a vacation day - my company is open for business. I'm in the financial services/credit industry. we were always busy b/c so many people open new lines of credit the day after thanksgiving. I'm in HR/Recruitment so the busy business didn't affect my work day - in fact very few people interview the day after thanksgiving so I usually take the day off to shop.
