2nd Trimester

which girl name?

This will probably be the one and only time I do this (for girl names at any rate) since DH and I are decided that it will be one of these two. (and I 'm not giving a NMS option. It's one of these two for us if this baby is a girl. So if you don't like either, don't answer.)[Poll]

Re: which girl name?

  • I'm thinking any kid named Giselle is pretty set for being made fun of as a teenager, when people start using the word jizz to describe a certain bodily fluid. Not that it isn't a pretty name. Just sayin.

I know ... but I'm trying to get past that. Considering mean kids will ALWAYS find something to make fun of ...

This is the first thing I thought of, too.  Sorry.

Yeah but in this case, you'd be handing them something to make fun of on a silver platter. I don't mean to sound rude or anything, I just have a 13 year old brother and I know exactly what he would think.

  • I prefere Giselle too. I think its pretty and Genevieve is nice too but it seems forced, whereas Giselle is effortlessly cute. I really didn't even think of Giz = jizz. IDK if that is a matter of where you live but I've never heard of it and it sounds too stupid to even consider it a factor. GL 2 u!

It is stupid! But kids can be so evil for no reason at all, I guess I would just try to avoid something that can be made fun of as best as I could when choosing a name for my child.

  • That is a tough choice.  I actually really like both of those names a lot!
  • Hmm...I have patients w/both names (one high school, one middle school) and I really like both! If I had to pick just one, though, I'd say Genevieve: more nn options, a little more common than Giselle, but still unique.

  • If I had to pick, I'd say Giselle. It makes me think of Tom Brady's girlfriend, nothing bad. Genevieve on the other hand makes me think of an old elderly woman. I've only known really old Genevieves and they had issues.
  • I like Genevieve. I went to school with one when I was younger and we called her Genna (with a soft G). Giselle, I get the "dirty" reference and also that's the princess from the movie Enchanted.

     I prefer Genevieve.
