What do you leave at daycare?

Sam starts daycare on Dec 1st and I want to make sure I have everything ready to go.  What are the items I can leave there.  I thought of diapers, wipes, butt paste.  Do you leave your bottles there?  If you BF do you leave some frozen milk there as extra?  I'm drawing a blank as to what I can all bring and leave there.

Also, how do you label your bottles?  Will a Sharpie work or does that wash off?  So many questions...

Thanks!

Re: What do you leave at daycare?

  • My center has drawers for DD that we keep her diapers, wipes, butt paste and a few extra outfits for when she has a blowout.  You can also leave a toy/blanket for their naps.   They have strict requirements about bottles - I must label them each day with her name and date on special red breastmilk labels that they provide.  (which I found out after purchasing my own washable labels!)  We must take home any unused bottles, and they won't take any frozen.  So I bring an extra bottle just in case, take it home and relabel it with a #1 for the next day.

Every place is different, so I would check out their requirements ahead of time.

  • I would call the center and ask what they have room for you to leave there just to be sure.

Our center has a cupboard for each baby and also has a spot for his bag and carrier (when he was in it).  In the cupboard we keep diapers, wipes, diaper cream.  Each baby has their own crib so his blanket stays in the crib.  They also have a spot for each child's pacifier, bottles, etc.  Our center provides the formula and baby food so we don't have to bring that.  We leave his pacifier and bottles there.  They wash  the bottles in their industrial washer, so I know everything is clean.  We use inchbug labels: https://www.inchbug.com/  We love them and daycare prefers them.

  • My center required 2 extra sets of clothes be left there.  Other than that I left a pack of diapers/wipes and a pacifier for her.  She is also allowed to have one blanket or toy so we take a blanket for her.  We take extra bottles for her everyday and write all of her info on them and then have to take them at the end of the day.  I used a sharpie on her stuff and it worked fine.  We can't leave any butt cream there, we can only bring it if she is having a problem and then we have to fill out a medical release form and have to take it home again at the end of the day.

  • Call your center and find out their policies.  We have to have two extra outfits and diapers.  Wipes they provide, and we can leave butt paste there if we want.  He also has a small cubbie (shoebox size), which I leave bibs (they never use them, they use the center's) and extra pacifiers in.  I leave two blankets, a swaddleme, and his bear blanket goes back and forth every day.

I bf and I can leave a couple of bottles there (usually only enough for the day, there's not much room).  They won't store frozen milk overnight (also, it's a mini-fridge with a tiny freezer, so I probably wouldn't do it anyhow).  I can put his carseat under his crib during the day, so that's nice.

Everything is marked with a sharpie.  We use gumdrop pacifiers (like a soothie) and I couldn't figure out how to label them, so I used the strings that keep them attached to kids' clothes and labeled that instead.  But he's the only one who uses that kind, so I think it'd be okay anyhow.  I had a few items that didn't have tags (a homemade blanket and his bear) and I didn't label them at home.  They wrote his name on them in sharpie.  I wish I'd done it myself, because it looks bad (I know that's silly).  Just a warning to you!  We also made labels for the bottles, but they come off in the dishwasher, so I'm going to check out some of the other suggestions.

  • You definitely need to call the DC.  Each has different requirements.  I label my items with a Sharpie.  It does wash off eventually, so you just need to relabel every once in a while.  The basics are diapers, wipes, desitin, sunblock and hat(for the summer), blankets, crib sheet, pacifier, bottles, bibs and extra clothes.  I also provided my own bouncer and boppy.  My DC sends the cups and dishes home every night to be cleaned, and the sheets and bibs are sent home each week to be washed.

  • I would check with your Daycare.  We set up an appt and went in during the day and met her teachers and they wanted an extra outfit, wipes, diapers, Formula, and 3-4 bottles to leave there.  They marked her Bottels with a sharpie.

Every place is different just call them they should be used to this kind of stuff

  • My dd's daycare gave us a list. I'm pretty sure if you call they'll let you know

  • My daycare makes it easy as they proved all the food and formula and bottles.  They even bought the bottle type that I use so I don't even need to bring in my own bottles.  I have these awesome rubber labels - I am trying to thing of the name but they are the best.  I know they are advertised in the back of Parents or Parenting.  I have them for both my girls as they work with the sippy cups too.  My daycare uses printed labels with the kids names and the date as all bottles have to be dated.  For my 8 month old, I leave a few changes of clothes and diapers.  They have the wipes.  I also leave diaper cream.  My daycare does not allow the infants to have anything in their crib (they use sleep sack) so no lovies or anything like that.

  • I bought the vinyl labels from Stuckonyou.com.  They don't come off in the dishwasher or the microwave.
  • I leave 3 changes of clothes, 1 jacket, 2 blankets (take home on Friday to wash), a box of oatmeal, about 3 extra jars of food, and a supply of diapers. Bottles are taken home every night to wash. ?I bring 4 bottles to daycare everyday. I have some bands with DD name on them that I put around the bottles and mark the lids with a sharpie. The sharpie does wash off so I have to relabel the lids every morning. The daycare center supplies the wipes. ?They also let me know when she is down to 1 change of clothes and low on diapers.
