dance class

I work 40 hours a week at a very boring job and I miss my little girl.  I was gonna sign her and I up for swimming lessons but then she had to get tubes in her ears so I decided to sign her up for dance since she loves to dance.  I know must children at 17 months love to dance but my good friend told me that it was a waste of time and money.  I think if I have the money and it's more time spent with my baby how is it a waste??

  • Enjoy your time with your baby.

  • I think it depends if it's a mommy and me class or a big girl ballet class...

I took my daughter to a ballet studio when she was 2 1/2 and it was great for her but it wasn't a lot of mommy/daughter time.  The girls all danced w/ the instructor and all of the parents sat in the lobby.  We walked to class from our house so in that respect it was time for us to be together.  I'd find out the details of the class so that you are sure it will meet the expectations you have of it...

I think any fun stuff you can do w/ your kids outside of work/daycare is worth the money spent if you're creating good memories for you and your daughter!!

  • I've been a nanny before that did the mommy and me dance class and loved it! I don't think it was a waste of time or money (granted it was not my money) the little girl loved it and I enjoyed getting out with her too!  I plan on doing something like this with my own children someday.
  • DD and I are in a Kindermusik class- it's so much fun. She loves the songs and dances, and loves seeing the other kids. It's our special Sat. morning thing together. I say go for it!

  • It sounds great to me - it is all about the fun that you have together not that she learn new dance moves or anything like that.
