I'M GRAPE JELLY- ALWAYS AROUND & ALWAYS THE SAME
If I leave here tomorrow, would you still remember me. For I must be traveling on now. Because there are too many places I've got to see. -Allen Collins & Ronnie VanZant
My favorite verse!
I work M, T, Th, and Fr. For me, having W off is nice to keep the middle of the week organized. I can do many things in prep for the weekend. Also, my girls are never away from me for more than 2 days.
This is pretty much my schedule only I work MWF. I also work a few more hours here and there on the other days when Jack is in school.
MWTH
Monday - Because you will likely appreciate the break after the weekend.
Wednesday - You will want to be with your little one on Tuesday and then get back to working on Wednesday. By splitting the days, you will miss your little one a lot less. You will also be able to put yourself forward at work rather than thinking you don't need that crap because you haven't seen your child in three days.
Mondays off to recover from the weekend, Fridays off to prepare for the weekend. You'll also never need to worry about taking time off for a little vacation since you'll always have 4 day weekends.
Downside to that is most holidays are on a Monday, so if you worked on Mondays, and not on Tuesdays there would be the option a couple times a year to have a really long weekend.
Tough call though. Your M W Th sounds really good, too. That way you wouldn't have to work three days in a row.
MTW. I tried split days and it sucks. I work MTW and love it. I'm off Wed night and don't have to deal w/ work for 4 days straight, even though I really like my job.

Thanks everyone. If I work 3 days in a row, it would be MTW, not TWTh, since most holidays are on Mondays- no reason to give those up if I won't need to :-) And I still get 4 day weekends...
I guess I am debating whether it's better to get in and work my butt off then get out, or to spread things throughout the week...
Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday. Most "holidays" occur on a Monday so if you're part time you won't get paid for them or you still have to work so you'd be missing a lot of hours. I love my Tuesday thru Friday work week but would love to give up the Friday shift! By holidays I mean Memorial Day ect.

To get around the Monday holiday issue, I generally work TWTh of a holiday week. I only get 3 holidays a year, which is half of normal. I save as many holiday days as I can to use at the end of the year.

Thanks. I am in Canada and we get 12 paid holidays per year, so I am entitled to 7 paid holidays (60%x12). If I work MTW, I actually get 7 days (in 2009) so it works out. I have no idea if I am entitled to take days in lieu if I don't work on the actual holiday. I ameailed HR to find out but they never bothered responding to me- no surpise ass my HR suxs the big one.

I work Tu,W,Th and I LOVE it! I get a long weekend and I think it gives some consistency in DS's schedule.....at home for 4 days in a row, at school for 3 days in a row.
I work Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and LOVE it. I think it's good for my son too b.c it breaks up his week. I get a 3 day weekend every week! I do not need a 4-day weekend, I would be bored. Usually on Sunday's I'm ready to go back to work now. I do not have the option of having Monday off.
Oh one more thing... It gives me a chance to button up some things at the end of the week that I wasn't able to finish on Tuesday. Specifically if I leave messages for candidates about their resume and possible jobs. If they don't get back to me it gives me an opportunity to not have to wait until the next week.
I work M, T, Th and really like it! I never have to work more than two days in a row and the second half of the week is broken up. I would go crazy if I had 4 days off in a row.?
I have thought about working M, W, F but really like having a 3-day weekend. I might still give it a try someday.?

Forgot to add, I would go with M, T, Th.

And here's why. I did Mon-Wed for a while. I thought it would be perfect --- it SUCKED.
By the time I got myself in to work mode (Tues/Wed) it was time to switch gears and get in to SAHM mode. And vice versa.
I just could not find a good balance.
