Good Morning! It has taken a couple of days to get to this point, but here goes, my little angel's story. It may be a little jumbled I'm on pain medication right now, so please bear with me. On November 1st, I took 3 pregnancy tests and all came back positive, I was elated but I felt like something just wasn't right. I figured out that I was around 6 weeks or so... I immediately called the doctor's office on Monday morning to schedule an appointment. They said they would see me at 8 weeks. I explained that I couldn't wait, (I had some mild spotting and just felt that something wasn't right). They assured me everything was fine and to relish in my new joy! My husband was over the moon excited and immediately took over all house duties (with the exception of cooking, which is a good thing). On Tuesday, after a quick trip to the restroom at work there was some bright red blood. I immediately began to tear up and was petrified this was the end. I called my OB-GYN who said to relax and be there at 3 pm. DH came and picked me up and we headed straight to the office even though my appointment wasn't for 3 or so hours. We prayed for the best and he kept saying that God wouldn't give me something only to take it away. We sat in the waiting room shaking like a tree in a hurricane. They finally called my name and we immediately went to ultrasound. The big moment had arrived and I was anxiously awaiting. There was no baby in the uterus. I was crushed... as a matter of fact, they didn't see a baby at all. They also could not find my left ovary and assumed it was there. The doctor called us back to her office and explained 3 scenarios:
1-ectopic pregnancy in my unseen left side
2-unhealthy, early pregnancy in my uterus
3-very early pregnancy
They took my blood to check for hcg levels and told us to come back in 2 days to check again. On Wednesday, they gave us our results from the first test, 473. High enough to be pregnant, but not high enough. Fast forward to Thursday morning, we went in and gave them more blood and I told them of the pain (similar to ovulation pain) in my left side. They said not to worry, this was normal in early pregnancies. They also gave me a Rhogam shot because I have negative blood. DH and I both went to work and waited for the results of my second test. Around 1 pm, they finally came in they were in the 700's, they were climbing but not doubling. At that point, Dr. S (not my doctor, another dr at the practice)had decided it would be best to give me methotraxate (which would make my body absorb the baby) because my levels were indicative of an ectopic pregnancy. I was in tears as they told me over the phone. How could this happen? They wanted me to come in immediately so they could do more labs to see if I was even a candidate for the shot. I called DH and we rushed to the doctor's office to give them the blood they needed. My mom, husband, and I all felt that they really needed to find the baby before they gave me the shot. I prayed that they would and that everything would be fine. We were 50 feet away from the doctor's office when we got a call that said that my doctor didn't want to rush things because it could just be an early pregnancy. We were told to go home, get some rest, and come in the next morning for labs and another ultrasound, and if things weren't good, I would receive the shot. Friday morning arrives and DH, my mom, and I all arrive at the doctors' office hoping for a miracle. My doctor isn't there but Dr. S is there today. They did another ultrasound...no baby in the uterus, however my lining was very thick. They still couldn't find my left ovary, but checked my right side and said everything was fine. I told the u/s tech that I had read that you wouldn't be able to see the baby unless the levels were 1000 or above. She said that this was a lie and that she would be able to see the baby. My levels went up but not enough. They ran my labs and said i was a candidate for the shot. I was miserable...I didn't want to do this. Dr. S said that I either got the shot or I let my tubes rupture. At 2:30 on Friday they gave me 2 shots in the butt while standing up. I fainted. No one at the office could understand why I was so upset. I went home more upset than ever. They told me to go to the hospital the next day (Saturday) to check my levels. My inlaws came in on Friday evening and stayed the weekend. The shot made me extremely sleepy, gassy, and nauseous for the weekend. On Saturday we went to the hospital and gave them more blood. My levels had risen to the 900's. On Monday, I got up and went to work (my boss was less than thrilled that I was pregnant in the first place, so I was not looking forward to going back).I worked a normal day on Monday. On Tuesday morning, I went in for more blood work and my levels and risen to 1493. At this point, I was extremely concerned that something was just not right. My mom and I started to think that just maybe it was an early pregnancy. According to Dr. S, I was supposed to start bleeding anywhere from Tuesday on. Tuesday night and Wednesday day, I began to have a little pain on my right side, however, they had checked that side so I just thought it was because I was having trouble using the bathroom. On Thursday morning I woke up feeling a lot of pressure to urinate or have a bowel movement but very little was happening. I called out of work. Fast forward to Thursday night, I feel extreme pressure and was told to come to the ER immediately. My mom (DH was leaving work) rushed me to the hospital where they drew lots of blood, urine cultures, and did even more ultrasounds. I had a fever of 100.1 Dr. K (not my original doctor, but to be honest I like him better) was concerned the baby was leaking fluid and I was bleeding internally. My levels had dropped to 700, which meant the shot was working. My urine cultures came back, I didn't have a UTI. This is where everything gets furry...the u/s tech at the hospital located my left ovary (it was up high, but she found it within 60 seconds). They saw the baby on my RIGHT side (which I had been told numerous times it was clear). They also saw a TON of fluid. They said the baby was right below my right ovary. I was discharged 4 hours later (around 1 am) on the condition that I would be in the doctors' office at 8 am and that I was not allowed to work because my tube or ovary or anything could still rupture. Friday morning rolled around and my mom and I went to the doctors' office. They did another ultrasound which confirmed the baby on the right side. I wasn't bleeding (which is strange b/c it was a week after the shot).I still had a fever, which really concerned the doctor, who did a head to toe examination. They sent me home and said to call if I had any pain or if my fever got to 102. DH and I spent the weekend at my parents house and I relaxed. On Sunday(two days ago) I woke up to cramps, which was a sign the shot was definitely working. I also began bleeding a bit. I decided I was going back to work the next day since the shot was obviously working and that I needed to go get some groceries for the week. DH and I went grocery shopping around 6 pm and went home. DH only let me put up the little things. After unloading the groceries, I laid down and noticed a horrible pain in my right side. I put a heating pad on it, hoping it would help...no such luck. I started to freak out again. DH ran a warm bath, that didn't help. I crawled to my bed and began bawling and begged DH to take me to the ER. Mom came to the house and drove while DH held my hand. I could tell something was wrong, this pain definitely wasn't cramps! We got to the ER and it was EMPTY! They immediately rolled me back and started taking blood. DH and mom were eventually allowed to come back. They started me on some morphine. They did a pelvic exam (which hurt worse than it did on Friday and on the Friday before that). I spent a LONG time in u/s which the tech saw the mass and a lot of fluid. I don't remember much more from Sunday night except that when we were being discharged the Physician's Assistant (my doctor was on call but not at the hosptial) said I was never pregnant and that there was no "mass". My mom became upset because even 3 OB-GYN doctors had confirmed that I was pregnant and 2 of them saw the baby on the right side. She handed my discharge paperwork which consisted of "how to recover from an ectopic pregnancy after surgery". HELLO...I didn't have surgery to remove the baby, they gave me a shot to take my baby. They sent me home with a prescription of darvocet and said to follow-up with my doctor or Dr. K tomorrow (Wednesday). Yesterday, I called my OB-GYN and explained to them what the PA had said. They too were at a loss as to why she said that. So here I am on Tuesday finally writing my story, it has been chaotic, and I think my boss wants me back in the office ASAP!I'll update once after tomorrow's appointment. I'm ready to be done with all of this. It's been such a long process. Even though no one can really say what's going on I know we're going to make it through!

That's terrible. I am so sorry you had to do through all of that. I had an ectopic as well and the first part of your story sounds like mine. I ended up having to have surgery to remove the baby from my right tube.
