Pregnant after a Loss

cyst question...

Yesterday I went in for my appointement at 6w5d. The doctor did an ultrasound and we saw a heartbeat which was very exciting. We also saw a pretty big cyst. The doctor said it wasnt anything to freak out about but we would have to watch it as it could take up too much space in my uterus if it gets any bigger. He said I had a couple of options based on what the cyst does or does not do from here on out. It could "twist on itself" causing me serious pain and vomiting and I'll have to go to the ER and have it removed. This could jeapardize the baby if it happens in the first trimester. If the cyst just sits there, but doesnt shrink, they'll go in laproscopically at 15weeks and remove it. If it shrinks or my uterus expands enough to hold it and the baby, he''ll just remove it after I give birth. In the meanwhile I'm going to have a zillion sonograms which makes me both happy and scared.

Now every little twinge makes me nervous. Ugh, I'm having a "why me" moment. Seriously, why is it so easy for some people to have babies!?

Has anyone else heard of/been through this?

Re: cyst question...

  • I have a fibroid cyst growing on the inside of my uterus that my doctors have been watching. I'm just about to be out of my first tri and it's definitely gotten bigger, but it still causes no harm to my pregnancy.

I had really bad cramping throughout the first 8-9 weeks of this pregnancy but everything turned out okay.

Hopefully yours won't get too big and cause a problem. I know a few women who had cysts and had perfectly normal pregnancies. My stepmom had them too and when she had the baby, they removed them after her c-section.

    Good luck

  • Congrats on seeing the HB! Sorry I don't have any advice on the cyst, but hope it all works out ok
  • Did your dr mentionif it was a corpus luteum cyst?  I had one with this pg at 6 wks and it was gone by 8 wks.  The cyst sustains the pg until the placenta takes over.  It's pretty common.  Mine was uncomfortable for a little while, but it wasn't painful.  I hope yours goes away on its own.
