I never do this, usually it's more about bad things but yesterday DS was drinking his milk and got it on his shirt and started whining and pointing so I would clean it.  I got a wipe and wiped it off and he said without any prompting, thank you...more like "dank ooh".  For most kids his age this might not be a big deal but he just qualified for EI for speech (ahead in everything else including comprehension.)  This was so exciting for me b/c it's a 2 word phrase and it was without me saying it first...ever since his evalutation he has really been trying and repeating words when I ask him to but not new words on his own.  I cannot wait until therapy starts b/c I am very optimistic that he will come up to speed quickly.
