What Britax seat do you have ?

Sorry - now that the target thing has blown up we're going to get DS the seat for Christmas (lucky him!!).  I was looking at the marathon and roundabouts.  The differences between the two besides price seems to be the size, weight limit and that the marathon has the hugs system (which I have no idea what that is)

TIA!

  • We have two Marathons and wanted two more for the new baby.  It's really a great seat!

  • We had one of each.  I must admit I LOVED the Roundabout because of its more compact size.  We travel by air a lot and it was a great seat for the airport.  We also got it on super-sale so it was well worth it.  (goes to 40 lbs.)

However, I have a very tall kid who outgrew the seat (in height) before she was 2.5 years old.  She's still in the Marathon and has one more strap slot on it.  If I had been smart, I would have gotten two Marathons so I wouldn't have had to get a new seat so soon. (goes to 65 lbs.)

I replaced the Roundabout with a Graco Nautilus which is hopefully the last seat she'll need (since it converts to a booster).

The "hugs" thing is just a rubberized grip on the shoulder straps.  Nothing fancy.

  • The roundabout is typically a waste of money, honestly. It is almost always outgrown RF by 18 months and FF by 2.5-3 (by height). Plus, the marathon goes to 65 lbs. It is worth the extra money in the long run.
  • We have a Roundabout.  I like that it's a bit smaller than the Marathon (which is great for rear facing, imo), but the weight limit is only 40 pounds.  That's no problem for DD since she's so tiny, but DS is a chunk.

We're going to move DS to the Roundabout for now (he's almost outgrown his SnugRide) and we're deciding between the Boulevard and the Frontier for DD.

    DD1 - 12.25.05
    (m/c 1.17.07, m/c 5.15.07)
    DS - 03.15.08
    DD2 - 12.03.09
    DD3 - 3.28.11
  • I have the Blvd which is like the marathon but with wings....go for the marathon since most kids outgrow the roundabout before they are ready for the booster.

  • I have a Marathon & a Regent.  I'd definitely get a Marathon over a Roundabout.

  • We have 2 Marathons and have had no issues with them.  DS is pretty tall and would outgrow the Roundabout way before he will outgrow the Marathon.
