Okay so they said it was about money, but it?s more than that. We got a new editor in chief who wanted to make these sweeping changes, most of which don?t make sense. My boss butted heads with him. The EIC actually I think had it out for her from the beginning because he holds grudges against anyone who disagrees with him.
It?s sneaky. He?ll say, ?let me know what you think about this,? and says he wants your opinion. But then if he doesn?t like what you have to say, or you disagree with him, you need to ?get with the program.? So you?re damned if you do. He?s just using the current economy to knock down the staff he doesn?t like.
But boss said they were going to offer her job to me. That would make me editor of the national magazine. I don?t want it. But I don?t think I have much of a choice. i'm so sick right now.
Re: Update on work situation
That's crazy. We had a lot of stuff like that when my former company was bought and merged with another one. All of the old managers were suddenly "resigning."
I don't think I'd want to be in the position to take over her job either. At least you know how he works though. Maybe you can convince him that all your ideas were really his ideas in the first place.
