We got home from labor and delivery on Friday evening around 6pm after my delivery on 11-11 at 9:45pm.. By 12:00 noon on Saturday, we were admitted back. Things have settled down a bit now and looks like everything will be okay. The baby was severely jaundiced and required immediate attention. Thankfully I had her first pedi appt on Saturday morning at 11:00.
I thought she looked a bit yellow - and even asked the nurse about it BEFORE being discharged on Friday...but she said her levels were fine. I've learned that the right thing the hospital should have done is re-checked her levels - which they did not. We got them checked at her pedi appt yesterday - got the call a half hour later that they were "very high" and that I needed to bring her to the ER "immediately". OMG - what a moment!!! I know jaundice is treatable, but at high levels I know it can cause brain damage.
We are sitting here with her now and her levels have decreased from yesterday, but are still high enough that we have to stay another night.
Please keep Cassidy in your thoughts and prayers! I'll update soon and post my birth story and pics hopefully by tmrw. Just a tip now for anyone expecting to deliver within the next couple of days: bring your Boppy to the hospital! I wish I had mine instead of the stupid slippery pillows they gave me to breastfeed!
Re: My baby is in the hospital! :(
I hope your baby girl is feeling better soon!
And I'm not sure I congratulated you, sooo.. Congrats on your baby girl!!
Oh no! Healthy pink thoughts to Cassidy. How great that you were right on top of things with the pedi.
Can't wait to hear that she's home, and see pics!
Oh, no! I will definitely be thinking of Cassidy and hoping she gets well soon! I am glad your pedi caught it in time.
And I agree about the Boppy. It's about the only thing I really used that I brought with me!

Oh my gosh - how scary! Glad to hear that your little girl is doing well and I hope that she is home soon.
And thanks for the boppy tip. I was going back and forth on whether or not to bring it but now I definitely will.
I'm so sorry
I hope her levels go down and she is able to go back home soon!
