Yesterday my right boob--mainly the nipple but it feels the pain radiates in a little is stabbing/burning. And it's worse today. I almost can't even feed from it because it feels 'raw' (the nipple part). The nipple part is very pink--and looks just that--raw. His latch is good, although it may have gotten sloppy. Does this sound like thrush or blanching to you?? I am trying to do some research online but it's so confusing.
I'm afraid of mastitis or thrush b/c I don't want to be on any meds ---my supply is already dwindling because I was sick last weekend and I don't want to not be able to BF for a while if I do meds. I hear thrush is misdiagnosed a lot.
Any ideas about what this sounds like???

Re: Help--nipple burning...
Burning radiating back into the breast sounds like thrush to me. My son and I both had it, but they only gave me meds for him. The pain was enough to discourage me though, and I just quit all together. (was on 2 feedings a day by then)
Mastitis is a really hard spot that is hot and red and tender to the touch - and you might have problems getting milk out. When it gets bad you get a really high fever, too.
