DHA is a type of essential fatty acid... I think it is a type of Omega-3.
My MW advised me to take extra fish oil from a purified source... it can aid in baby's brain and eye development. She said that that Costco brand (Kirkland) was shown by consumer reports to have the highest purity for the lowest cost, so that's what I'm taking.
I have it with my prenatal but you can also get it over the counter, I forget the name brand. I used to take Nordic Naturals, they are guaranteed mercury free and lemon flavored so you don't get fish burps
