1. Lincoln's bday is Friday. He is having an official party in August 11th so we aren't celebrating at all till then. And like last year, we are not buying him a gift.

2. Lincoln is painfully flatfooted so he only wear pricey Stride Rite shoes. I was trying to out off buying him a new pair but his toe was at the end of his sandal. During Winter I had bought a pair a size up in.clearance, so even though it is 100 degrees, I put him in shoes and socks, holding out that grandma will spring for a new pair of sandals.

3. I waited till tbe very last minute to plan his bday party. Birthdays are a huge deal around here and they are typically extravagant. No custom invited this year, and we are having it at the same location as last year gasp! I'm just giving the guests the goody bags the facility peovides and not adding to them, and I am doing light snacks instead of real food. This basic party ia costing nearly 500 and I am cranky about it. Not because I begrudge my kid a party, but because 500 is a small fortune to me and the party has the potential to be weak.
