Just wanted to share my excitement. I last posted about interviewing four doulas who ranged in cost from $900 - $1250. We deliberated but decided against hiring any of them. In a last ditch effort to find someone else, I e-mailed the DONA state rep for recommendations and she gave me the name of someone who is newly certified, has attended only 3 live births but seems really nice and knowledgable. For $400! And the kicker is since she teaches childbirth education classes and will include that as part of the package, my insurance may reimburse us for some of that cost. I feel so grateful that I can look back on this knowing that, whatever happens, I've done all I can to avoid a c-section.
