Since everyone seems to be experiencing the same type of weirdness/rudeness, I figured I'd add one.
I've been pretty much in denial since finding out there were two little nuggets in there and struggling with believing it. My first tri "paranoia" is double, as I'm sure many of you multiple mama's understand and I just am ready to see them again so I can put my mind at ease. Hurry up, 8/5!!
Anyhow, a coworker of mine told me Friday that she had a feeling about my twins-to-be. She went on to say, "I have a feeling they either both will not make it, or they both will. Not one or the other."
Gee, thanks.
Re: Things people say.
Wow! What a negative person! Who the hail says something like that to a pregnant woman?!? If she ever says anything negative like that again I'd simply look at her and say "I know you think I want your negative opinion, but really, I don't. If there isn't something positive coming out of your mouth, please keep it shut." (Of course, easier said than done)
Well, if it matters at all, I have a feeling that both will make it, not any other way.
Best of luck to you!
Also, my closest friend has 2 children, 3 & 1. My hubby and I had been trying for quite a while to have a baby when she discovered she was pregnant with her second child. She admitted she was afraid to tell me for fear of hurting my feelings or me being jealous. I just looked her in the eyes and said "Kathy, I'd never wish I were pregnant instead of you. It would be nice to be pregnant at the same time as you, but never instead of you. I'm ecstatic that you are going to have a baby! Don't ever think I'd hold something like that against you or harbor any ill feelings. I'm thrilled for you!"
She was the first person I told that I was expecting twins (after my husband and son of course), and she was equally excited for me. That's my "things people say" story, but not nearly as bad as yours!
People are really stupid. I lost my 11 month old daughter from (long story short) complications and kidney failure due to a congenital heart defect, and some idiot family member, upon telling them I was pregnant was twins, said "Oh good! There's two! There's that much more chance that at least one will survive!"
Thanks, azzhole.
