2 Year Old Doesn't Like Nanny Anymore? Why?

Hello!  I haven't been on here in a while, but thought it wouldn't hurt to ask.

We've had a part time nanny for our 2 year old for about a year now since I am working part time again.  Our daughter was shy around her for the first month or so, and didn't want me to leave, but after that she was fine.  She would even talk about the nanny and would get excited when she would come over.

For the last two weeks though my daughter is freaking out when the nanny comes over.  Will throw a fit if I try to leave, and since I work from home most of the time I can hear her crying (meaning she doesn't stop when I leave the room).

My husband and I both work from home about 80% of the time, and a friend of mine uses this same nanny and really likes her too so I don't feel the nanny is doing anything wrong....

Is this just a phase my daughter is going through?  Or should I be worried? I feel terrible leaving her with someone she is unhappy with, but I feel like if she doesn't like this nanny she won't like anyone...

Re: 2 Year Old Doesn't Like Nanny Anymore? Why?

  • My 2 year old (33 months) is going through a mommy-phase/ feeling abandoned-phase right now. He gets mad when I leave him, he's mad if he wakes up without me, he's mad if I go to work, he's mad if I go to the bathroom. He cries if I mention leaving the next day. He's been very clingy and sometimes doesn't even want to stay with my FIL (who he loves more than anyone else)

Hopefully she grows out of it soon!

  • why don't you try daycare, at 2, she probably would have more fun and distracted with other kids; she would benefit from being around kids too
