High-Risk Pregnancy

Reintro and ?

Hi Ladies,

I introed about a month ago but have not posted much so I thought I would intro again. I'm 29w with twin girls via IVF. I was put on sbr at home at 24 when my cervix was labeled dynamic and would measure between 2.52.0. I had not been having contractions other than BH and I was not dilated.

Friday I went to my ob for a cervical check and my cervix was .8. It had been measuring shorter each week but no where near that short. She immediately sent me over to LD. I was put on the monitors and am still not contacting besides BH and am not dilated. They gave me the steroid shots for lung development and have decided to keep me here until at least 32 weeks. At 32 weeks we will determine the next step.

I'm struggling with hbr. I was hospitalized 7 years ago for depression and although I know this is different it is bringing up a lot of emotions for me. It just feels eerily similar with the constant checks of my vitals, med delivery, not really having any freedom, etc.

I hate having to call a nurse every time I need more water or just feeling stuck in my room. Obviously I will do whatever is necessary to keep my girls cooking as long as possible but I just had a rough day today.

Those of you on hbr, what are you doing to stay sane? How do you deal with losing your independence?

Anyway, thanks for reading and I hope to get to know you all better.

    Welcome...back!
I was put on HBR July 9 for PTL. I am 25w2d now! Making huge strides everyday.
Just remain positive. A happy positive outlook will make the days much better. Despite how hard it is someways you must keep looking up.
I haven't allowed many visitors yet, I want to see how things go for a few weeks first. But having people to spend the day with is nice. I write a lot. Research things for the baby online. Watch tv, do crosswords. Sleep!
Being in the hospital is certainly different from home but you will get your own sort of routine and figure it out in no time.
Just remember to remain happy and positive. Laugh at least once a day!
Good luck to you and the LOs. Sending tons of good thoughts and prayers your way!

  • While I am not on HBR, I have been in the hospital a few times for a few days at a time.  I am on SBR at home now though.

Anyways, as much as you can, try to keep a positive attitude.  While it sucks to call the nurses every time you need something, L&D nurses are awesome, sweet, and genuinely want to be there for you and the girls and keep you pregnant.

We're here for you, vent anytime you need to.
