playing with poop

my 3 year old is in the process of potty training. we have a little potty in her room, and have been putting her down for naps and bedtime with a diaper on. shortly after being put down, she'll take off her diaper. she hasn't had any accidents recently. she's peed on the potty once, and pooped on it twice. the problem is, both times she pooped in the potty, she played with it, and got it ALL over her room. i figured after the first time, she'd learn her lesson, and not do it again, but it happened again tonight. i'm at a loss. i want her to use the potty, so i don't want to tape her diapers on or anything, i just don't want her to play with it. she won't use the big potty yet, and i don't want her to have to leave her room every time she has to go potty, because she'll use it as an excuse to leave her room every 5 minutes. any suggestions?? help!
