TTC after 35

What happens next

Ok for those who do not know my story.  Hubby 41 me 39. We got pregnant back in Dec first try, (1 time having sex) OPK was positive.  Total surprise, told hubby it would take months.

Had MMC in Feb. started TTC again in April so this is the 4 month TTC.  Dr said to TTC for 6 months if nothing to talk to him again. I have been temping, charting, checking CM, Wonderflos, CBFM

For those who have went to the Dr what were the first steps that they did for testing?

I have no idea what to expect. I know I have a few more months but want to see what others started out doing.

Thanks

Sorry for your loss. For the regular ob it was blood tests on certain days of your cycle to test your fsh, LH and progesterone I think it's been awhile. For the RE it was the same but they also tested for Amh and infectious diseases. They also want your h to do a sperm analysis and infectious disease bw. They may want you to do an HSG too. Good luck! Maybe it won't come to that :

pp pretty much summed it up... basically a lot of blood work to check your hormones, SA for your husband... he might skip the HSG since you were able to get pregnant, but I would push for it.  A Sono to check your uterus for lining, polyps, fibroids etc...  I would look to see what your insurance covers mine covers 100% pregnancy costs and 0% fertility costs.  It get's very expensive so you might want to check your coverage before you get the test run.

Good luck- so sorry for your loss

This.  Very good advice, especially the insurance piece, some tests can cost over $1,000.

    Thanks ladies,

Good to know some things before going, never know.  What is HSG?  Think that was the initials a few of you used.  Not sure what that is.

I will look into my insurance, I know when I called about the genetic testing before my loss the insurance lady told me, you have awesome insurance, everything is covered you do not need any referrals but that was pregnancy stuff I want to check into fertility stuff but wanted to wait til I was closer, hoping I would be pregnant before having to go through all that.  Now since I am closer I am trying to understand stuff before making an appointment so I am not lost when I have to go. I know when you get in to the Dr it is easy to forget everything you want to ask.

Thanks again!!! I know I have a month or so but gives me time to think.

Hi! HSG is where they put a catheter in and inject some dye to see if your tubes our clear. I think it stands for hysterosalpindogram or something close.

My advise is to start writing everything down. If you have any questions at all write them down and ask at the appointment. You may want to make an appointment in two months now just in case so you are not waiting for an appointment to open up if you hit the 6 month mark. You may want to discuss with your husband about if you have a stopping point. I mean if he isn't willing to get a SA you should know that now. Take any charts you have with you. Some doctors won't care while others use them as a starting point and maybe able to tell you more about what is happening based on what the information tells them.

Good Luck. I hope your TTC story will be short and sweet.

Thanks!!! All of what you said is what I was thinking especially making an appointment now for later.  I dont want to jump the gun but I know it is hard to get appointments and with my work schedule being back in school it will be tough.

Thanks for all the info, glad I am thinking in the right direction, I have been writing things down, now I have to write some of the stuff you ladies have told me!!!!
