I'm having a hard time finding an answer to this (silly) question...
I'm 35 yrs old and at 12 weeks my OB will run the MaterniT21 blood test. They said what the test will be checking for, and also mentioned it would also confirm the gender.
My question is - wouldn't it just be able to determine the gender of one baby... It wont show up with both X & Y chromosomes, right? Has anyone had this test done?
Thanks
Re: MaterniT21 test...
Hi!
Right - the test will tell you IF there is a Y. So it can confirm no Y (so 2 girls will be confirmed) OR yes Y which will tell you only that one or both are boys.
We opted not to find out the sex.
And our Trisomy results were negative (otherwise, you have to find out if one or both twins have it, by way of amnio or CVS) - i.e. it can only tell you NO, or YES (for one or both)
This is confusing, I hope I explained it well.
