Babies: 6 - 9 Months

solids...

I make my own purees, and I wondered how old your baby is, how much fruit and/or veggie (or meat or cereal :) ) they are eating per meal, and how many meals per day they are eating?

Re: solids...

  • My LO turns 7 months this week and we do solids twice a day (breakfast and dinner). He does a small bottle (4oz) and then eats 3-4 oz of puree (fruit mixed with yogurt/cereal in the morning; veggies with cereal or meat in the evening). Formula intake is about 30oz a day.

  • My DD will be 7 months old in a week.  I give her solids twice a day, but she's not crazy about most of them yet.   I would say 3 oz. total per day is a decent day for her.  Some days, like yesterday, she barely ate any.

We've only done fruits, veggies and oatmeal so far.

Our pedi said to start 3 meals a day before we see her next, which will be at 9 months.  Occassionally I do it 3 times now anyway since she doesn't eat much.

  • My LO's 8.5 months now so she's eating a little more. But, at 7 months she was eating 3 solid meals a day, about 2 oz of fruit for breakfast with some oatmeal (2-3 Tbsp) and 2 oz of vegetables with oatmeal for lunch and dinner. She also has 4 bottles a day at 6 oz each. Only difference now is she's eating about 3 oz of food instead of 2 and gets a snack around 2:30 of applesauce or something like that. Her routine is:

    8 am: breakfast  / 9 am: bottle

    12 pm: lunch / 1 pm: bottle

    4 pm: bottle

    5:30 pm: dinner / 7 pm: bottle
