Pet Name?

I had a cat named Fiona a while back, and I actually really love the name. Would it be odd to possibly use it even though it was one of my pets names?

It's no Puffy or Miss Fluffykins, it's a legitimate human name--that's my main reason for asking.

FORMERLY NADCHAEL.

Re: Pet Name?

  • Me personally? I'm not sure. It would probably depend on whether said pet was alive or dead and how long the pet has been gone. I think if the pet had been deceased for a while, 5 or more years, I 'might' but otherwise I would find another name. Even then I would really have to convince myself that there wasn't a better name out there.

  • One of my friends had a cat named Emma.  But when she found out she was having a girl, she renamed the cat and named her daughter Emma because she loved the name so much.  Do what you want, really.  If it is your favorite name, use it.

  • I personally think of my dog as my first baby.  It would be weird for me to name a future DC her same name (she also has a "people" name).

There are so many names out there.  I say find something else that you love equally.

And I'll add that this is one of the reaons I like names like Miss Fluffykins for pets...because I'd never want to use them on future kids!nbsp; Big Smile

I would say probably not.. as much as I love my dog's name (Riley) I would never consider using it again on my child...

This.  DH is Irish and we were looking at names we like. Fiona was one of them, but it reminds me of Shrek so one of the suggested names that I really liked (with the same meaning) is Finola (Fin-oo-la) can also be spelled Fionnoula. Just a suggestion.  HTH!
