Maternity leave before 1 yr of working?

How does it work with FMLA if you work for less than a year before delivering? Can you still take maternity leave?

Re: Maternity leave before 1 yr of working?

  • You'll need to talk to HR at your company.  I don't think FMLA will cover you, but they may have other leave plans that you can use.
  • They don't have to cover you.  It is your company's choice.  You may just qualify for std or another plan they have in place.

  • Or if you happen to get your own STD plan BEFORE you become pregnant. You can buy through AFLAC. Or my organization doesn't provide STD, so I bought a plan incase either we would have another or I had some other reason to need off more than a few weeks.
  • My work let me take a 120 day, unpaid medical leave. I can come back sooner but my job is held until then. I have been working 8 months at the job before my leave.
