Cloth Diapering

New

I am thinking about cloth diapering my baby girl who is 2 months old.  I have researched a little but would love to hear your ladies advice on how to get started such as where to buy the diapers, how many I would need to start, if they have starter kits with the diapers and pails, do I have to use the cloth diaper detergent, etc.  The one thing I do know at this point is that I would like to do the all in one diaper.  Thank you for any advice you have to give:)

  • If you want an AIO and you live near a buybuybaby, you could go grab a BG freetime with a coupon for like $16 just to try it out to see if you like it.  I think you'll need like 20 dipes.

  • Thanks for the info but I actually don't live by a buybuybaby but will look at their website!

  • Online is great for buying. I purchased several from nicki's diapers and cottonbabies. I just started as well, but my LO is 9 months old so I am sure the amounts needed for you will be different then me but I am going with having enough to do 10 diaper changes a day. I have seen lots of started kits online in the stores so you should have no problem finding something in the price range you want.

Kelly's Closet is great for online ordering, and I've also had good luck ordering direct from manufacturers Sloomb/Sbish, Blueberry, CJ's, etc., usually just when things are out of stock at KCI love my Diaper Dollars.

I'm fairly new to cloth diapering for what it's worth, I reeeally thought I'd be happy with all AIOs, while I like our AIOs my preferences have already changed. I adore our Best Bottoms for the diaper bag I am pretty much in the middle of a love affair with fitteds. Seriouslymy husband might be happier if I were having an actual affaircannot. stop. buying. all. the. fitteds. All that to say that I would recommend trying out a bunch of styles/brands before committing to anything! Our Freetimes are great, esp. for daycare, but with our hard water they're actually my least favorite right now b/c they definitely collect stink waaay more than, say, our GroVia AIOs, which we've had 0 buildup problems with.
