Learning tower

I got a learning tower for Alex today - bought it from a local bumpie for $30! I just took it apart and started to sand it down a bit and applied the first coat of paint. It was blue and will now be white to match our kitchen. 

I had been dragging our bench over to the counter for Alex the past few weeks so that he could "help" with meals. This will make it so much easier, I am excited! :-) 

Do any of you have a learning tower? How do you like it?

Is this the thing that makes the kids at counter height? It has a platform to stand on with rails around it? I never knew what they were called but I've been on the lookout.

We will have plenty of room in our new house for one. Mamabargains has them every once in awhile for around $60, so I'm hoping to snatch one up next time they pop up.

The bench is just not safe enough. I can't get eggs from the fridge while cooking for example and leave him on the bench by himself.

$60 would be a super bargain!

After stalking craigslist and waiting for mamabargains to feature again, I finally broke down and bought one a few weeks ago.  Ours is a little different - it is a complete box so he can't climb in and out unless we put him in.  The last thing I needed was for him to climb into it and be able to reach something on the counters.  I LOVE it, and so does E.  He loves to 'cook' with me, and his favorite job is to shake the pepper when I tell him to.  I am able to get him more involved with meal prep, which makes it more enjoyable for everyone!

I  wish we could have found a discounted one, but I justified the cost because it is something that will last and be used for each of our kids. If it is in good shape when we're finished with it, I'll try to sell it too.

rockychrysler, I think it's worth the money, too. I had stalked Craigslist forever and had no luck. When this local bumpie posted hers, I was so happy to be the first one to answer! 

I just applied the final coat of paint and hope to be able to use it tomorrow.

SandAndsSea, I agree that it is crazy expensive when you buy it new! That's why I was so happy to find it for this awesome price used!

That is an awesome find @Ricola! I would love to find something like this for E, but we have limited space in our house as it is...I might give in though!

watch the price, it seems to fluctuate between $20-30 difference.  Right now is the lowest I've seen on amazon.
