cost of D&C

I got my itemized insurance invoice from my ER visit and D&C 10/10 -- I will never again complain about paying my monthly health insurance bill (I am self employed, so self-insured) . .. Bill was $5,300, thankfully my co-pay was only $100. It reminds me how important the issues surrounding health care are. . . .yikes.

  • holy shit!  thats so much money!!!  My insurence pays 100% materneity- no copay, so i'm hoping thats what my D&C will be under.  Otherwise its 80/20... up to a 1,500 per year... so we'll see.  Glad your insurence covered so much of it!

  • Both of my D&E's were 12,000.00. I didn't have a co-pay but I am grateful that they covered them.

  • I had induced labor, then a d&c.  It was $12,000 and no insurance Crying We'll be paying on this for awhile.

  • I'm not sure how much my D&C cost, I didn't get the invoice yet but my copay was $200.

I know sometimes the hospitals will take a reduced amount - when DH and I both had appendicitis surgery we were able to get 15% knocked off our bill.

You may want to call the billing department and give it a try.  Good luck and sorry for your loss.

  • Isn't it crazy to see that? ?Mine was over $9k and I only had a copay too.

Just as an FYI, self insured has to do with how the policy is funded and is used for large companies who only want to be putting money into a pool for their employees rather than everyone insured by an insurance company. ?You probably fall into the fully insured bucket, where your premium dollars go into a bucket for all the other fully insured folks and vice versa.?

  • i had a natural m/c and i got the bill for a day in the hospital and it was $8500.00  its nuts how much stuff costs.
  • I'm not sure of the total of everything, but I had to pay about $960.  I'll make my last payment this month.  The hosp. set up a payment plan for me, thank goodness.  No interest.
  • Yeah I feel the same way.  I am not going to complain about the chunk taken out of my paycheck for insurance.  Just imagine what it would be without insurance --- yikes!
