Baby Names

Due Friday, second guessing and need opinions!

My husband and I have had our little girls name picked out even before we knew she was a girl which is Evelyn Blair. Neither have any significant meaning to us, just names we liked Well now I'm due Friday and I'm second guessing our name choice but decided against changing her first name because she's been Evelyn the whole time and doesn't seem right when I call her anything else but now I'm debating changing her middle name to Patricia which is my grandmother's name...

Does Evelyn Blair or Evelyn Patricia sound better? Is Evelyn Patricia too much of an "old lady's" name?

Any opinions would be great!

Mobile Bump sorry if punctuation is messed up!

  • I think it's probably just cold feet. I really like Evelyn Blair! The fn and mn sound great together. Patricia has a lot of syllables and sounds like more of a mouthful... That being said, go with your gut. GL!

  • I understand the cold feet.  It's a bit nerve-wracking making the decision when it's such a 'permanent' thing.  I love Evelyn Blair.  I'm also a big fan of honouring family with middles names and don't think it has to be the most 'pretty' sounding name to do so.  My DD's middle name is Eunice.  It's not a gorgeous sounding name, but it means so much to us.

So... that all being said - I would lean to Patricia as middle name since it has meaning, but if you did go with Evelyn Blair I think that's a lovely choice too.  Good luck!

  • I like the sound of Blair, but the meaning of Patricia. Like a PP said, it does have a lot of syllables though. Would be against Evelyn Patrice?

  • I love Evelyn although I am biased!

I think Evelyn Blair is beautiful!

I don't love Patricia with Evelyn but I get wanting to use a family name.  Are you ok with using a form of Patricia?  I like the sound of Evelyn Patrice.

  • My parent's couldn't make up their mind for me, so they had a different name for each day of the week.  Whatever day I was born was going to be my name.  Needless to say, once I was born my mother knew her choice.  "I don't want her to be a Wendy!"

It's ok to be nervous about it, and it's ok to change it last minute.  If Patricia is meaningful to you, don't disregard it just because you "already" made up your mind.

FWIW, I'm glad I'm not a Wendy either.

  • I like your original name Evelyn Blair better.  I say stick with your first choice :)
