Bleeding on BR

Anyone else on bed rest and have the occasional bleeding post bathroom? It's not every time and its not a lot but when I wipe sorry TMI there will be spots of blood. I have reported to the nurses and doctors and the seem to say its something I may just have the whole pregnancy bc of my cervix being dilated. I am also on heparin. Any one else have this?

  • Sorry my phone went crazy! 25weeks as of today
  • Yes I am on HBR. And they haven't dont an exam since I was admitted July 9. They don't want to risk causing any problems or infections. Just seems weird that they ask me and I tell them and they say its probably normal. I get very very minor blood on my pad. Maybe a speckle or two.
  • I had bleeding when I was on HBR with my first son. They never identified where it was coming from. Sorry that's not much help.

  • Kate sorry you had to go thru this as well. How far along did you make it before you delivered?
Maybe it's something I have to just deal with.

I delivered at 25.4 weeks but we now know that my issue was IC and I had an underlying infection on top of everything else. I hope you are able to stay pregnant for many more weeks and that the bleeding stops. I know how scary it is.

  • Kate sorry to keep asking you questions, what kind of infection if you don't mind me asking. Maybe I can make sure my doc has looked for that.
    How is your son now?
Thanks for the input everyone else. Very much appriciated!!

I don't mind the questions at all! I know it's overwhelming. I had chorioamnionitis. It's a relatively common infection in pregnancy. My son is doing great now. He had a rough 4 month long NICU stay but has thrived since coming home. He was completely caught up growth wise by his 2nd birthday and only needed some speech therapy for about a year and even that was not for a major delay. He'll be 3 next week and looks/acts like any other 3 year old. We have been very lucky.

Have you gotten the steroid shots? That and magnesium sulfate is what I contribute a lot of his success to. Magnesium serves as protection for their brains and reduces the risk of cerebral palsy if the baby does end up coming early. My ds didn't have any brain bleeding despite being born vaginally.

It is certainly is a lot and very overwhelming!! I was given the steroid shots and magnesium the day I was admitted. Along with a penicillin drip incase I did have an infection and to prevent any infection.
I'm so glad to hear about your son! Hope he has a great 3rd birthday!
