Not sure if my 8 week old has a food allergy, acid reflux or what's going on. The doctor just switched his formula because the soy was constipating himI started him on soy after quitting bf because everyone told me it was btr for him anyways pedia said no to the soy, so he put him on enfamil gentlease Friday. Since switching him he has been severely fussy and spitting up alot. He would be occasionally fussy prior and rarely spit up. We go back to the doctor on the 30th but didn't know if anyone had any issues like this or suggestions before we go back or if he is just adjusting. I just want my happy baby back and not acting like he is in pain. Thanks :
Re: Not sure if its a food allergy
If you prefer to go back to breastfeeding, you can start breastfeeding and pumping to get your supply back. Since baby is still young, it would certainly be doable. I would eliminate dairy and soy from your diet, if baby was having GI issues like green, mucousy stools while you were breastfeeding.
Whatever you decide, I hope you find a solution that helps clear up your LO's symptoms!
DD1: allergic to eggs & dairy
c/p 4/1/11
DD2: milk and soy protein intolerant, allergic to eggs, soy, peanuts, tree nuts, sesame, bananas

Generally there is an adjustment period any time there is a formula change. Did your dr say why she didn't want your LO on soy? FWIW, some babies have a hard time digesting milk proteins. It can cause a host of symptoms... my LO had reflux, colic behavior, ezcema, mucousy stools. He actually wasn't able to digest milk or soy proteins, we were BFing so I had to cut all dairy and soy out of my diet. However if you FF, you could talk to your dr about soy formula and if you both decide it's better to give something else, you could try a formula like Nutramigen or Alimentum. They are milk based but their milk proteins are partially broken down making it easier to digest.
In the meantime here are some links about MSPI and formula, good luck!
