Multiples

Nausea. Please help

I'm 14 wks along with fraternal twins. I thought the nausea would be gone by now but it hasn't. I've tried ginger tea, ginger snaps, mints, candies, motion sicknes bands, B6 etc. I complained to my OBGYN who gave me a prescription with 10 pills as needed but it doesn't really help. I can use some advice. I'm almost to tears cause I'm sick of being sick despite this blessing. And i think my husband and friends believe im exagerating. Is it bc im carrying multiples? Anyone?...

  • I had intense morning sickness for from about six weeks until a little bit after I entered the second trimester. I took Zofran when I was extremely desperate, otherwise I tried to always make sure my stomach had something in it (crackers or something small). For the most part though, I pretty much had to tough my way through it which was no fun and probably not what you wanted to hear. If you have not tried Zofran yet, I would speak to the doctor about it. It was effective. Good luck!

  • What medication did the doctor give you?  I was on a regimen that included two Zofran a day, Unisom at night, and one Compazine every other day.  I had to take the Zofran before I got out of bed in the morning or it didn't help me.  It didn't fully take away the feeling of being nauseated, but it helped keep me from vomiting everything up. Hang in there - it sucks, but it should eventually fade.

  • I had severe hyperemesis with my singleton and twins. It was so much worse with twins.

Nothing helped me we tried everything there is and nothing helped the nausea or vomiting. Lasted till 20w or so.

And YES. The hcg pregnancy hormone is double with twins. Your body all if a sudden is dealing with this hormone and many become nauseous. and when it's double because of 2 babies its that much worse. Hang in there. Worst thing ever!

  • Yes! I had mine so long, way past singleton pregnancies! The MFM said its because it double the hormones! Mine went to line 20 weeks then it did stop. I don't miss that and the sense of smell was so strong. Hang on there! My twins were born big and healthy too, over 7 pounds and 6 pounds so don't worry!
  • Get your doc to change your script to Zofran.  They probably gave you reglan.  It didn't work at all for me.  I had to take Zofran 2x's a day from about 13 weeks to about 22-23 weeks before I could back off.  Just call them and let them know what they prescribed isn't doing a darn thing!

TTC since May 2006. After 3 failed Clomid cycles, 2 failed Injectibles/IUIs, 2 failed IVFs and 1 failed FET, we moved on to adoption!

  • I had severe hyper emesis with both of my pregnancies until delivery. With the twins, I was hospitalized and given a PICC line with a zofran pump and fluids. Ultimately, it took the pump, and phenegran to manage my case. I was sick up until the c/s. Check out helpher.org for resources if you think it could be hyper emesis and let your doctor know you need a better solution.
