Restless legs!

My legs are driving me INSANE today!! This morning I cleaned out all the closets upstairs so I have been moving around. As soon as I sat down my legs got restless and nothing I have tried is helping! I've stretched, had plenty of water, took Tylenol, stretched and stretched....nothing helps :[
Any other ideas?

Re: Restless legs!

  • I have has this for months. The only thing that helps me is a bath with Epsom salts and then some sort of distraction till I fall asleep, like a massage! Good luck

  • Try eating a banana.
  • I did the bath earlier. I did just use my back massager on my thighs and it seemed to help a little. Oh the joys of pregnancy.
  • My legs tend to get very achy and I can almost describe it as a constant burning, but thats what my restless legs are like.. FI just went out to get me some tylenol.. I took a bath, no relief.. tylenol is next.
  • I don't have any ideas, but you are not alone. Mine have been terrible too. Hopefully they don't keep you up tonight

My iron is a little low but I'm not technically anemic. I've been taking iron supplicants on top of my prenatals. I'm wondering if it could be stress induced. I've had a tense couple if weeks and the restlessness has gradually gotten worse each day, usually when I'm sitting with idol thoughts.
  • All I can say is I hate them!!!

  • So sorry for you! I have had them for weeks now and feels like my skin is crawling. It is so unpleasent. The only thing that has helped me is massaging them for up to 30 minutes for each leg. My husband has been a huge help with this.
  • I have it too but nothing seems to work.  I just move around until I'm comfortable or until I can fall asleep.  can't wait for that symptom to go away.

Scientific studies have shown that Restless Legs Syndrome occurs significantly higher in pregnant women. A higher presence of Inflammation is the likely cause (there is scientific evidence of a higher presence of inflammation in pregnant women). What this means is that pregnant women are more susceptible to RLS. It also means that they are more vulnerable to to other inflammatory ailments.

You can view the studies here: https://www.rlcure.com/othercond.html

Results of a scientific study were published in the January 14, 2012 issue of "Sleep Medicine Review Journal" that supports this theory. You can read that study here:
    https://www.rlcure.com/rls_study.pdf

You can view the results of other related scientific studies and learn about some helpful solutions at this RLS information website:

A blog for RLS sufferers with helpful tips can be found here:

The solution, in all cases, is the combination of a proper anti-inflammatory diet and the introduction of natural supplements and key vitamins into your daily life.
